This fruit smoothie is a quick and easy option for those of you who have trouble making breakfast a priority. You can even blend it up and take it to go!
protein powder (15-25 grams) *
8 oz skim milk (or soy milk or almond milk)
3/4 cup berries, any type **
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Place protein powder, milk and vanilla extract in a blender. Slice berries into mixture. Blend drink until all berries and powder are completely mixed into milk, approximately 1 minute.
* if weight loss is your goal, look for a protein powder where the protein content is at least double the carbohydrate and the fat content should be no more than 1/4 of the protein.
** any fruit can be substituted for the berries, except for banana if weight loss is your goal
